Candy Baron at Laguna Beach

On Forest Avenue where individual shops lining-up at Laguna Beach, there is one store where reminds everyone of their childhood, "Candy Baron."

"Look at these all Taffies. This is exciting," said the lady in the sore. "It's really hard, but I'll definitely buy bunch of them."

While this lady weren't able to hide her excitement, there was a man who are smiling at the lady. He was the manager of Candy Baron Laguna beach Store, Izac who actually used to be a Saddleback student long time ago.

"This is a candy shop," Izac said. "We have a few thousands of candies.

The numbers and variety of candies they have has the magic to make everyone to child. He revealed the candy most loved from all of the customers.

"Our most popular candy is Taffy," he said. "We do have a lot of Taffies in this store."

This store's location, Laguna Beach, adds the unique characteristics to this store. According to him, the busiest month is during summer.

He said "The busiest season is summer which is June, July and August because this is the tourist place."

Through having a store at Laguna Beach, he found the difference of Laguna Beach comparing to other beaches in orange County.

"It's more unique," he said. "In the way, it is still considered as a village."

Also, he knows how to enjoy Laguna beach.

"There are lots of galleries," he said. "And there are also very unique shops too where you can find the products you cannot find anywhere else.

And also, he never forgets the most important thing to do at Laguna Beach.

He said "You'd better visit my store."

If you never have visited to Laguna Beach, this video can give you some ideas.

Orange County shores covered by tiny red crabs

The crazy amount of red tuna crabs are now covering the Orange Country coastline, from Huntington beach south to Laguna Beach.

This incidence happened several times before. The similar case occurred in the last year and got beaches in trouble.

According to Los Angeles Times,  in Laguna Beach, marine safety Lt. Kai Bond said he saw the salmon-colored critters, about 1 to 3 inches long, scattered across portions of the southern tip of Main Beach and along beaches in the Sleepy Hollow area.

In Huntington Beach, "thousands of crabs settled on the sand north of Goldenwest Bolsa China State Beach earlier this week," said Lt. Claude Panis to Los Angeles Times.

People are wondering the cause of this increase of dead of red tuna crab appearing on the beach for the particular season.

"It happens every now and then," Panis also said to Los Angeles Times. "It seems to go hand-in-hand with El Nino. I think it could be related to the different currents we have going on right now. It was just a fun little event for us."

Newport Boat Show from sellers side

Under not the perfect condition of cloud this morning, people were preparing for this evening of the event. Duncan Mclntosh Co. Inc is still holding the annual event "43rd Annual Newport Boat Show" at Lido Marina Village at Newport Beach today, May 13.

This event is able to be carried out with yachting interests of attendance. So, the existence of both sellers and buyers at this event is important.

Sellers have the clear different perspective toward this event than the buyers. As buyers are looking forward to this event, sellers are too.

Showing how big this event is, sellers are not from only the U.S., but they come from outside of the U.S. as well.

"We're from Montreal, Quebec, Canada," said Daniel and Roger, the representatives from Canadian Electric Boat Co. "We are here to sell boats."

According to them, weekends are the better days to sell boat.

"Like every show, Thursday has not a lot of people because people work today," Daniel said. "But, it's good for us because we can get ready our boats and staff, so we are ready for tomorrow."

Even though they took such a long journey to California just to attend to this event, there is a good reason for them to do so.

"This is our second year for this event," Daniel said. "Because we are selling 100 % of electric boats, I think California, comparing to other states, is more open to electric products."

Another reason comes from their environmental concerns.

"We concern about the effect from the electric boat to the environment," Roger said. "Our boat has no emission and is very moral and friendly to the environment than all other boats. That's why we are representing our boat here in California."

Their likeness of boat is coming from their likeness of the environment.

"First of all, we like water and sea," Roger said. "It is pleasure to going around and the lifestyle of boating."

As they said, their company PR video tells message how much they concern the environment.

Newport Boat Show will be running through until Sunday night. It would be an interesting time to join into those boat and sea lovers.

Q&A for Boat Show staff

  • What is your name and position?
I am Steven Bolduc and a Boat Show staff.
  • What is the purpose of this event?
It's a sale's event where people market. There are 200 yachts here and various accessaries to the yachting community. They organize here, people come and hopefully they'll sell some boats. People come to look at the boats and pick what they like. Some people just like looking at the boats and people that already have boats, they can buy an equipment for them here, but there are 200 yachts in the harbor. The boat show runs from Thursday to Sunday night.
  • How was the first day?
The first day was yesterday from 12 a.m.-7 p.m. It was better than last year. Good attendance so far. A lot of people are working during the week, so Saturday and Sunday are big days. Boat Show opens 10 a.m. today and runs till 7 p.m. tonight. So, maybe in the afternoon, more people will come by. It just opened at 10 a.m. this morning and it's been an hour so far.
  • What do you like about boat?
I am a seller, so I like to sell boats.
  • How many people came in yesterday?
It would be several thousands. I don't have an accurate count, but it would be several thousands.
  • Why this event has been took its place at Newport?
Newport is one of the largest private yacht harbors in the country. So, these boat shows are held around the country, usually in the places where there are a lot of yachting interests. There is the one in San Diego, here, up in Los Angeles and Bay area somewhere. But Newport is one of the largest yachting communities in the U.S. I think there are more private yachts then most other places.
  • How many times did you attend to this event?
This is my 5th year I've done it. They usually have the spring one and fall one. Normally, it's in late April, but this year, because of a lot of construction going on here, they moved it to May. Maybe, this year will have one in fall too, but this one is the biggest.

According to him, there is the difference between this year and the last year.

"I come here every year," he said. "The design of the boats is different than the last year. The new boats, like materials, are different, not just regular power boats or sale boats, with the new designs and technologies."

However, before you start exploring things to do on weekends at OC beaches, it is a great idea to know what beaches are here in OC.

For example, surprisingly, Laguna Beach is the general term and divided into 12 small locations.

So, here is the list of 10 main beaches at OC including the name of small beaches:
If you could list all of these OC beaches, you are the true OC beach lover.
